How does a solar system work?
A solar energy system consists of solar panels, inverter and electrical wiring. From sunrise to sunset, solar panels made up of photovoltaic (PV) cells convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity. Inverters convert the DC electricity into the alternating current (AC) electricity which is then transferred to your business’s main electrical service panel for use.
Do solar panels work in cloudy weather?
Sunlight consists of direct sunlight (direct radiation) and diffused sunlight (diffused radiation). During cloud cover, diffused radiation falls on your solar modules producing electricity lesser than the daily expected generation.
What sort of maintenance is involved once I have installed a solar PV system?
Cleaning of solar PV modules is required for maintenance. The schedule on which cleaning is done is shared by the Reon’s technical team and differs from site to site.
How much space do I require my solar system?
Space requirements range from 110 to 150 sq feet per kW of solar PV installed depending whether it’s a rooftop or ground mounted and the tilt angle of the solar PV modules.
What if I am producing more energy than I need?
The surplus electricity would either be sold back to the grid and accounted for using the net metering policy or will be stored in the form of batteries and used later by the same load center. Commercial analysis is done to weigh the different options under consideration. There are ways to suppress the output of the solar PV system if neither net-metering or batteries are available to offtake the excess available power.
Will my roof be able to bear the load of the solar PV system?
A thorough structural analysis is done by our team to determine if your roof’s load bearing capacity is sufficient to take the load of the solar PV modules. Concrete roofs have no problems at all in handling the distributed load nature of solar PV modules, however T-slabs & truss based roofs have to be analyzed first before they are used for installation.
How long will a solar energy system last?
Our systems are designed to have a useful life of 25 years or more.
Does SESCO provide O&M services?
Yes, we do
Quality Assurance
What are pitfalls to avoid when buying a solar PV system?
The following are the pitfalls to avoid when buying a solar PV system that can undermine the system’s functionality:

  • • Incorrect design principles.
  • • Inferior product line used.
  • • Incorrect installation practices.
  • • Nonconformance on safety issues.
Are solar systems able to run all type of loads in different industries?
Grid-connected inverters can provide usable power to all type of residential, commercial and industrial loads.
How do solar systems operate with the Grid or a Diesel generator?
Smart grid-connecting inverters are designed to sense operating voltage from either the grid or the generator. Once these inverters sense the operating voltage they then start delivering solar power in phase to the grid or generator supply. The solar output power from the inverters is such that it is used as a priority before the grid or generator power is used. Hence you observe reduced units billed or reduced fuel consumption in generators.
What is the point of origin of sesco’s products? Are you a dealer of a certain product?
SESCO sources its components from various countries. Some of these countries include Germany, United States, China and Pakistan. sesco focuses its efforts on designing the most optimum technical and commercial solution on a case to case basis. sesco holds a list of approved vendors based on its stringent vendor qualification programme. All products used confirm to our highest quality standards.
How can I check if the components offered to me are off the best quality?
There are different quality levels of solar PV modules available in the market (e.g. Tier 1, Tier 2) or Grade (A, B, C). Specialized inspection tools are needed to identify poor quality solar PV modules that are available at much cheaper rates.
What safety protocols are important to consider while putting up a solar PV system?
The National Electric Code (NEC) is an electrical safety code and has a section dedicated to solar PV system electrical installations safety. The NEC drives several design and installation decisions. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has dedicated sections on hazard identification and installation best practices for solar PV systems. California Fire Code (CalFire) is a set of rooftop solar installation safety best practices made by the state of California and used globally for installing solar PV modules to facilitate fire emergency services. International building Code (IBC) used for standard safety practices to evaluate roofs/structures before installing solar PV modules. Reon Energy Limited is an ISO-14001 company as well and has proficiency in all the safety protocols mentioned above.

How much does solar energy cost?
Reon solar engineer in your area can provide the best information on what it will cost to go solar based on your rooftop. However, once customers begin to explore solar options, they often find that the total up-front cost of solar is less relevant than the financing terms, return-on-investment, and cash flow calculation. Financial options such as solar leases and other innovative financing models can help you convert to solar for little or no money along with an efficient design that can also help bring the costs down. Factors influencing cost include:

  • • Your available, unshaded roof space.
  • • Your current energy usage.
  • • Your local utility’s net-metering policy.
What is the benefit and environmental impact of solar energy?
The following is a very brief list of advantages.

  • • Cheaper and affordable electricity. Increased energy security by locking future energy rates from fluctuating global oil & gas prices.
  • • Reduced on facility line losses.
  • • Transformer Upgrades can be deferred for day time operating industries.
  • • Substantially reduced environmental impact. Boost in internal and global Health, Safety & Environment(HSE) performance; safer Operations & Maintenance (O & M); and a healthier labor owing to reduced emissions.
  • • No operation or maintenance cost apart from cleaning of solar PV modules.
    How does net-metering work?
Net-Metering concept is a process that allows customers to produce their own Solar power and share their surplus electricity with the national grid. The monthly bill is then netted off in proportional to the amount of energy sold to the distribution company. The net metering procedure is used globally to promote the use of distributed generation.
